Sneak Peek of “Cinderella” Movie at Disney California Adventure
As a Disney fan from childhood, Walt Disney’s Cinderella film from 1950 was one of my favorites. Of course, as a boy, I would never admit to this fact. But as an adult, I feel perfectly comfortable in expressing my love for this classic tale. Who could forget the memorable quotes and songs like “A dream is a wish your heart makes?” Plus the bounty of iconic Disney characters such as Prince Charming, the Fairy God Mother and Gus Gus. They are all ingrained into the imagination of every child who has ever watched it.
On January 30, 2015, the Bug’s Life Theater in Disney California Adventure began running a sneak peek at the upcoming live action Cinderella movie. Although the film will not be released officially until March 15th, this extended preview gives audience members a better idea of the full feature. If what I saw on screen is any indication, I believe Disney will achieve better box office results than their previous live action fairy tale movies.
The sign outside the theater is really nice. It’s not simply paint on a rectangular-shaped wood board, there was thought put into its construction. Bits and pieces around the display provides the feeling that there is something special to see inside. A cast member awaits to direct you to the interior of the theater. Since the preview runs about 10-minutes in length, the line is not long.
Nothing has really changed inside the Bug’s Life Theater queue area. No special decor was added to indicate that you will be seeing Cinderella. Nevertheless, I love the queue personally and didn’t mind that they ignored displaying any type of enhancements specific to the movie.
Once inside the actual theater, I felt a bit of magic in the air. The blue glowing light washing over the walls and seats with the title of the film on screen was visually delightful. Unlike It’s Tough to be a Bug movie, this preview was not shown in 3-D so no special glasses were required. Be that as it may, there were some special effects incorporated with the presentation such as blowing wind and seat movements.
I will not go into detailed about the potential of Cinderella from a movie buff’s perspective. I’m not qualified nor interested in gauging how well this will be received by critics. I can tell you that this film seems to stay true to the classic animated tale that Walt Disney produced in 1950. Personally, this makes me very happy. My hope is that it will be well-received by the general audience and that Disney will continue using this formula instead of trying to reinvent story lines which deviate from the older animated features.
So, is it worth going to see this sneak peek? Absolutely. The wait time is minimal, the presentation is only 10-minutes long, and you get to learn more about a film that will be, in my humble estimation, a really good movie.

Mad T. Party WILL return to Disney California Adventure
Oh man, it’s too early in the year to get a BONK in my predictions! The evidence was there. Auctioning off the arcade machines, the teapot sets trucked out of the park, and of course, the power of Frozen. I still think shows like this just contribute to the overcrowding of the parks. Mad T Party stopped becoming a party and became a hangout for social clubs.
But to be honest.. Mad T Party kinda has a special place in my heart. So there IS a part of me that’s kinda happy it coming back. I think mostly because my daughter LOVES it. And I want her to be happy. I can’t wait to tell her the news! Sometimes being wrong is ok. That crow looks mighty tasty.
