While I still mourn the loss of the Carnation Plazza Gardens there is still a part of me that is sort of looking forward to the replacement, Fantasy Faire. And everytime Disney releases new concept art, I get a little bit more into it.
Fantasy Faire opens in spring 2013. You can currently spot princesses on the path to It’s a Small World.
See for yourself and let me know in the comments if you are excited for the Fantasy Faire.

In the 1950’s there were cries of outrage in Orange County, CA, that beautiful, verdant orange groves were being uprooted and destroyed for “a carnival” …”an amusement park” etc. The “new” is not always the “better.” But sometimes an old favorite must make way for the new and the better. Carnation Plaza was a relic, a monument to sentiment over practicality and efficient use of resources. In this case, the resource is prime real estate in “Downtown Magic Kingdom”—Walt DIsney’s (first) Land. I applaud all who designed and green-lighted this long-overdue addition to the Park.

I agree. Times change and Carnation Plaza was empty over half the time. It was grand in it’s day, but it’s day is long over. It’s a good idea to make room for something new.
