Loved the podcast, listened today.
I had to hurry and pop on here and give Daniel some advice…since everyone has some to share. 🙂
RUN at least the 10K or half!
It is all about a matter of MIND. You even mention that the winner of the Tinkerbell was a fairly new runner. So you know it can happen.
Here is why I say this….
I am NOT a runner. I signed up for some local events to keep me motivated to do something. I really like the thought of a Triathlon (mind you in a pool, not open water). So that is what I did. The running was the least favorite, but it did it. And yes I might have walked a bit of it. Now flash forward to the next year. I signed up for a running event and I ran the 5K I thought I was gonna die! At the finish line they give runners prizes if they call your bib number. Mine was called….I won a free entry into the local 1/2 marathon…that was the next month. ACK!
There was NO way in my mind I could ever do that. But here is the MIND thing…the lady (who I know) handed me the paper said something to the effect of, “HA, guess you’ll have to find someone to give that to.”
I had something to prove. So I ran a few more miles the next week. The following week a few more….get the idea. And then I finish my ONLY 1/2 marathon in 2 1/2 hours. …and I did not die.
It is all a matter of mind. I hope I here in August you gave yourself something more to do.
Also…We love the Redwood Creek area. I do have a few younger children, but it is me and my husband that love climbing around and being goofy as well as slow down and take some R&R from the rest of the park. 🙂 Now no more knockin’ it.
